The fashion press is flourishing in France since 1778, the first year of publication of La galerie des modes et costumes français.

During the whole XIXth century France is editing hundreds of magazines and fashion newspapers like Le Magasin des Demoiselles, Le Journal des Demoiselles,

Magazines with a large popular circulation like Le Petit Echo de la Mode strongly contributed to the evolution of dressing habits in the deep France.
